JESUS WASN'T REALLY A CARPENTER!

Today I found out Jesus wasn’t really a carpenter, at least not as we understand the profession. Now obviously, eventually Jesus’s chosen profession was of a “Rabbi” or teacher; so in that sense he wasn’t a carpenter regardless of translation. However, in his early years, it is supposed from Mark 6:2-3 that he was, like his step-father, a “carpenter” as commonly translated.

However, the chosen translation from the Greek word “tecton” to mean “carpenter” is a bit of a mistranslation. In fact, “tecton” (in Mark) or “tekton” (in Mathew) is more aptly translated into a word describing a “contractor”; specifically, contracting as a “builder” or “handyman”. Not necessarily having anything to do with wood in most of the jobs he likely took.

He was basically a “Mr. Fix it”. You had something that needed mended/fixed, designed, or built and he was the guy to call. And note, this isn’t just referring to small jobs such as repairing a leaky roof or the like, though this type of thing would have likely been a part of what he did when bigger business was slow; it also refers to such things as designing and building bridges, stone temples, etc. So perhaps by today’s notion of the profession, he’d more likely be called an “engineer”.

No matter what was intended by this publisher, the truth remains JESUS FIXES! Let him in and he'll sure fix you up.

Crazy World?

You may want to call this world crazy and you'll not be wrong. Looking through, one is phased with different  ideas. Wrong or right, it doesn't matter at least to those who participate in those acts, all they are interested in is to achieve the purpose of that action. Else, why would someone someplace choose to be in leadership as president for almost a life time? why would someone someplace strap him/herself with explosives or take up arms, machetes, and other dangerous weapons just to prove a point? crazy, crazy, crazy, it trully is.

Here's another phase; I've got friends who put in less effort towards achieving something, less time for study, less time for work, less time for everything except partying, eating, etc. but whe you get to see these folks walking past without a care in the world - indeed, no care - dressed super fly with chicks (girls) to die for. While my other friends work so hard, I mean, so very hard; yet they've got nothing to show for all those hours of tireless work -crazy.

One thing i realised is that we've got nothing to do to change all these. They happen and will keep  on happening, nothing's going to change. so why bother about these few points while there are many others you can pick on?  I really am bored with stuffing my thoughts with all these so here's what i suggest.

We all need peace of mind. Man loves something or some personality they could look up to when all is lost, when all's tried and failed. I for one look up to God Almighty for utmost peace in my heart and also around the world. My heart goes out to Japan, Libya (innocent citizens), Jos, Nigeria and other places around the world where some very few set of people seem to have 100% control over a host of others bringing untold hardship and pains. I pray for Peace, Justice and Fairness the world over.
